Chris Espinosa joined Apple at the age of 14 in 1976, when the company was still operating out of Steve Jobs's parents' garage. He was one of the youngest employees at the time.

Espinosa met Steve Jobs at Paul Terrell's Byte Shop while Jobs was installing an Apple I computer. He later befriended Steve Wozniak as well

In 1976, Espinosa began writing BASIC programs and software manuals for the Apple II while still in high school at Homestead High School. He slept underneath his desk at the Apple office.

Espinosa was warned against associating with Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak by his teachers at Homestead High School, as they had also been students there

Despite being one of Apple's earliest employees, Espinosa did not participate in the company's 1980 initial public offering. However, Wozniak later offered up to 2,000 pre-IPO shares at $5 each to a group of 40 employees, including Espinosa, who he thought were undervalued
